I am aware that I can toggle the mode via Fn+Return, but this really bothers me. I'm used to the ESC key (years of muscle memory training!) and it adds friction, since you now have to press two keys...

Same thing here (I already sent in a bug report via email). What's special here is that I have an alias of OmniFocus.ofocus inside the AppSuport folder, pointing at the real file on my USB stick....
