I used the "delete old client" feature indeed before the problem occured.

I am glad you could fix it. It was a terrible nightmare. Loosing my entire GTD system on all devices really shocked me...

Delete the corrupted OmniFocus.ofocus file from ~/Library/Application Support/OmniFocus, then open OmniFocus and revert to a backup (default location for backups is ~/Documents/OmniFocus Backups)....

Also, it was quite strange that even the iPhone could not finish the sync. So maybe my database got corrupted somehow (this would explain why the sample database worked perfectly).
