I would use contexts to define which dresses you are cutting. Then, when you start a cutting session, you can pull up the context for, say, "Dress A, size 5", and see all the dresses in your queue...

I tried it, and the item I changed, I couldn't put back in the original place. It was one of the start up tasks, and I had set up a project for "Getting started with OmniFocus"...
