Omnigraffle has stencils where I can create something and then easily drop it in multiple locations, but any edits to an instance only changes that instance.

Is there a way to create a symbol / stencil that you can update all instances at once? Shared layers work well for things that always appear in the same place on multiple pages, but not in other cases.
