I found it confusing that to choose a context for a project/action group, one had to use the "default" context. I kept looking for a way to pick a context similar to how an action context is selected.

I also agree with Curt that the context I choose for a project isn't necessarily the default context I want for all my actions. I am planning on using project contexts as a way to reconcile my goals and objectives list (that my supervisor needs) to my actual day-to-day projects/actions list I keep in OF. In other words, the "context" for Project A might be "Goal 1: Manage Lab" although most of the tasks under this goal are in the context "work" or "desk" or "computer".

I would suggest separating the default context from the context one selects for projects/action groups which would solve many of the problems brought up on this thread so far.
