I did try to do this when I first encountered this bug, but I wasn't able to ssh in (got no response). I haven't tried opening the ssh connection before using graffle - I'll try that next!

For what it's worth, you might be able to avoid rebooting if you ssh into the machine and kill the window server. (Just killing OmniGraffle isn't enough; the window server itself has gotten stuck by that point.)
