Thread: How I sync ...
View Single Post
Let me see if I've got this right ...

In Finder, I connect to sync.omnigroup.com and have created a folder on the server called Outlines. In that folder I placed an outline. Worked on it, closed it.

Then I go to my iPad, open up OO and in Documents, I click on the Import button, choose "Copy from WebDAV", and select my outline. It now loads on the iPad ... I edit it and close it.

Then I go to Documents again, select the just-changed document until the hare button shows up in the upper-left, and choose Export. I export it to WebDAV.

A moment later, on my Mac, there is the newly edited version in the mounted server in Finder.

I think that's the right way to do it ... but it means that the saved document is not on my hard rive, it's stored in the Omni Sync server, so if my Mac is off-line - i.e., on the road out of range of WiFi - I cannot access that file. Unless I copied the file from WebDAV to my hard drive. But that means the next time I make changes on the outline on my Mac, I have to copy it to WebDAV again before accessing it on the iPad. Seems like a LOT of work just to keep something synced.

Or am I missing something?

If there's a simpler way to do this, I'd love to know it.
