any suggestions for how to deal with phone calls that need to be made or returned?

I've started out with a project "return calls", default context "phone" and a due date of now so that this project is essentially always overdue; if there were a way to have automatic resets to a particular time each day for doing calls that would be great, but i can't figure that out yet.

The problem with this is that right now I have three calls as actions within the project itself, all are due, so there is a number 4 to the left of this project, in red, indicating four items are due. But there are three actions, not four. If I check off all three calls, there is still a 1 in red next to the project, presumably for the project itself. In this instance I don't want the project counted...

Anyway, looking for a better way to manage phone calls.
