OmniFocus WebDAV sync is still new territory. A lot of folks have it working great. A lot are still wrestling with it. There are a lot of factors that are out of our hands and the WebDAV options available from different hosts may impact your experience trying to set up WebDAV sync yourself.

If you would rather not spend your time figuring out how to do all this on your own, please give serious consideration to using MobileMe instead. Not only do you get OmniFocus sync that way, you get a suite of other great online applications.

In general, MobileMe is the easiest way to get OmniFocus synching up and running. It's not the most inexpensive, though it is worth pointing out that MobileMe does offer a free 60-day trial.

By the time a trial MobileMe account is up, we'll have had a chance to release updates that work around the quirks that the some of the other WebDAV providers out there exhibit. Enter an action into OmniFocus for around the 50-day mark that says "Set up Syncing and cancel MobileMe", of course.

In case anyone is wondering, the reason we didn't do a wired synch is because we can't. Third party applications do not have access to the information that gets synced when your phone is plugged into iTunes.

For folks that don't want to go that route, there a couple other options. We're hearing that folks are having success with BingoDisk, which costs $20 per year.

If you want to go completely Do-It-Yourself, there are some really good instructions on how to set up WebDAV on your own computer here.

If folks are having trouble syncing, it would be useful to know if the problem can be reproduced when you sync with MobileMe. That helps us to isolate issues that are caused by our code from issues that are related to a particular WebDAV provider.
