If you want iPhone syncing, I think you'll have to go with the multi-account set up. OF syncs only one database for each user account. There's no way to tell it to sync a secondary database on the same user account.

Also, just to be clear, the Mac license doesn't get you an iPhone license. I suspect you realized that.
