It seems that the rank separation setting is not always equally applied by Automatic Layout to all levels of a hierarchical diagram.
In the attached, Rank Separation is set to 0.7cm, and this is mostly applied, but the separation between ranks 4 and 5 is about twice as big as that between the other ranks ...
Perhaps I am missing something, (a template effect perhaps ?), but this looks like a bug, and I'm not sure how to correct it – there appears to be only one global
rank separation setting ...
