I suspect you are getting the idea that an inbox is supposed to be empty (just like we are supposed to eat enough vegetables). I agree.
One other behavior I would like is the ability semi-intelligently parse items I drop on it. Dropping a file or link to the Focus icon in the dock should create an entry in the inbox with the link (preferably for me) tucked away where it belongs. You could then choose to tidy up later by assigning the item an action, context and a project.
Once I drag an item to a project, I would expect it to move there, not copy.
Frankly, I usually have an idea for a project when I enter an action (I have a few broad "projects"), so I don't often use the inbox for routine entry. It's most definitely a staging area.
