I am having trouble getting child/sibling relationships to render in a way that is really indicative of child & sibling relationships.

Basically what I want to do is create vertical descendant relationships where
descendents descend from top to bottom and siblings are connected in a way that actually implies sibling relationship as opposed to parent child. (which seems to be the current default behavior)

Like in the following picture (but you know, with omnigraffle):
