You can tunnel into particular folders in the iPhone UI, and you can use context-mode perspectives on the iPhone. There isn't an ability to apply a focus in project mode that carries over to context mode, notifications, or calendars, however. You can't sync just a portion of a database to a device, so your wife's iPhone would get the whole thing, or nothing.

So, if context-mode perspectives are a sufficient level of focus, it might work for you.
