This appears to just be going around and around. It's important to remember that the only reason events are added to the calendar on the iPhone is because Apple doesn't provide any other way to pop-up an alert. It's not meant to be calendar integration - it's using the calendar to provide time-specific notifications, which can't be gotten any other way.
