Just do it. Let me give you some reasons:

OF is far superior.
Support is great.
You will get things done

MutantSquid can attest to the fact that I was a strong believer of Things. What did it for me was not the fact that upgrades were slow to come by. It was customer service. Their forum is more censored that the former Soviet Union. As soon as you write something that sounds a bit critical of their software, your posting is deleted. There is a small group of fanboys who rejoice in attacking every single post that doesn't praise their app.

Things is run by creative, yet immature people. Customer service is non existent and the application is limited. Try running 50 plus projects and you'll see how much you must scroll and how many clicks it takes to enter info. On the iPhone it's even worse.
