is it possible to link or group two objects and only have one scale on the x or y axis?

I'm trying to make a stencil and have some grouped shapes, such as the html form select menu.

I want the user to be able to add the select menu to the canvas and only resize it horizontally with out distorting the fixed image at the righthand side of the input field.

omnigraffle is a great tool but this feature would make it stellar :)
