I'd highly recommend to take a look at sparkle. Every Cocoa developer is slowly adding support for it.
http://sparkle.artworkapp.com/ Auto-updates won't get any more intuitive.

I'd also recommend Sparkle as a feature; it really does Just Work(TM). I was a little skeptical at first, but I've seen it in so many apps, and it works so great, I'm totally sold at this point.
