Named perspectives ? Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
It is very useful to be able to save and retrieve perspectives.

Will it be possible to attach user-defined *names* to them in the public release ?

"Perspective1" to "Perspective3" is manageable, but beyond that I would prefer something more mnemonic :-)

In another thread Ken has promised improved management of perspectives, including naming, deleting individual perspectives, and showing perspectives in the current window.

I have also be reassured that in the future, perspectives will remember which folders and projects are 'focused' on.

Bump!

This is exactly what I'm after to make perspectives useful. The numbers are must more difficult to remember... and there is almost no managmenet of them.

I'd like to add this: The name of the perspective should be the title bar - so I can easily distinguish which window is which (especially when I use Exposé, which I use a lot).

Also, if alter the settings of a perspective, then the window should show a "modified dot", and when you close that window, you should be asked if you want to a) save the settings back to the perspective, b) save as a new perspective, or c) discard the settings changes.

With respect, this sounds too fiddly to me. I think that if you change settings and want to save it, you can save it via a menu command. Now if you defaulted the save name to the most recently opened one for that window, and if you arranged it so that saving to the same name overwrites the old perspective (with a confirmation box), that might be a good solution...
