sp3 not reloading tabs on relaunch? Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
I just had to restart my system and when sp3 launched, it loaded the cached content of the tabs.

Behavior with 5.1 was to load all tabs fresh upon launch (at least on my system).

Is there a preference that will restore the previous behavior and is there a modifier key to override the setting? If I'm offline (or on a slow connection), I'd like to reload the cached content, but usually prefer to refresh pages.

AlBook 1.25

10.4.6

Cheers,
Jon

Workspace snapshot vs. reload has already come up in a couple of other threads. It's a real hot button for me because I prefer the slower-but-newer behavior of OW 5.1.3 for my workspaces with volatile content.

When I launched SP4 for the first time about 10 minutes ago, I immediately checked two of my workspaces holding pages from two news sites. In both cases, I found up-to-date content.

It's too early to tell whether these workspaces get reloaded each time I switch to them or just at launch time.

Here are the earlier threads:

We did make some changes to how workspaces load in SP4 so you _might_ see improved behavior here, the change in behavior will be more fleshed out in the next release so stay tuned for that.

While I was sleeping, Troy posted his reply, and the forum sent me an email notification. A moment ago, I asked OmniWeb (still running from last night) to switch back to my Omni Forums workspace. The Sneaky Peek forum index page showed nothing new. I refreshed the page and found two updated threads.

So SP4 is still displaying stale content. (OW 5.1.3 would have refetched the current content in the five pages in my Omni Forums workspace.)

Just grabbed sp4 and found inconsistent behavior in the tabs.

Tabs that were front most in their window did get reloaded; some background tabs refreshed, others didn't. I'm going to do some more testing over the next couple of days to try to determine what might be happening.

Cheers,
Jon

OK, I've taken much too much time to get back to this, but it looks like sp7 does do the "right" thing and reload all tabs with fresh, uncached, content.

I'll be keeping my eye on this, but at the moment things look better.

Cheers,
Jon

Yeah, they only reload the tab if it doesn't repost data.
