Followup: the problem with using UK English (or any other language), however, is that much of the "new interface" functionality in gmail is lost. It works fine in Camino, so this is a WebKit bug for sure.

Well, the version of WebKit OmniWeb is using. It doesn't happen in Safari.

Actually, no, it happens to me in Safari and Webkit. It always seems to be loading. The status bar even reads "completed 5 of 6 items" and never changes.

My bad, dude. I should have said that it doesn't happen to *me* in Safari, only in OW. So maybe it's not a function of different WebKits. But then what *is* it?
