You can't do that without grouping, sorry. But note that once you group them, you can take that parent row and use the "Row: Spacing" inspector to tell it to not indent its children, which gives a visual effect that might work for you. (The totals will be at the top, as usual.) If you do that, you'll almost certainly want to apply some styling to that row to make it clear that it's not a simple peer of the other rows.
