I didin't do much testing, but on all sites I view regularly, the ads are still just grey boxes with no possibility to load the blocked content.
Examples: http://www.macosxhints.com http://www.userfriendly.org My URL blocking list: /ad[^dm] \.swf$ \.falkag\. some\.ad\.com
