The impact of "iPad or bust" Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
Have to say that these notes ('Honest Notes' section)

did find some resonance in my own experience and impressions.

"iPad or bust" has left a layer of shelf-dust in its wake ...

Agreed. I find that his comment about not loving to use OF anymore particularly hits home.

The solidity is good – it still inspires confidence as a repository – but I think I might have expected, by now:
  1. Reasonably full and rapid search (without the need for a band-aid army of user-supplied scripts :-) it remains surprisingly reluctant to let us find all that data it has collected.
  2. User-defined fields.
  3. Faster performance, especially in data entry and outlining.
  4. Slightly cleaner and less distracting graphic design.

I agree with OF being a chore to use! Often times it seems like I spend too much time managing the system as opposed to getting things done.

I have an "on again - off again" flirtation with Things. It is not a chore to use. I think it does a better job on 3 of the 4 points mentioned by Rob.

1. Things has a nice global search feature.
2. Tags can be used anyway you want, items can have multiple tags. Very nice as opposed to a single context.
3. ?
4. Things has a better User Interface IMO.

However, Things has some issues that OF handles well. The lack of nested tasks and folders is the major issue for me.

I'm hopeful that OF 2.0 solves some of these issues.
