Many applications these days publish RSS or Atom feeds with to-do's. For software developers, for example, bug tracking systems often publish feeds that contain to-do's.

Here's an example:

It would make our life a lot easier as developers if there was an easy way to subscribe to to-do's via RSS and have them show up in OmniFocus just as if they had been entered manually. Perhaps read-only, but that's good enough, as long as they still could be categorized and flagged normally.

Use Help → Send Feedback to submit bug reports and feature suggestions to get them entered in the development database. (See this sticky thread at the top of the forum for details.)

This has been on my wish list for quite a while now. More recently I'm finding that I'd also like to be able to publish my project actions via RSS... if nothing else to consume them in something like Snackr or some other way of putting it on the desktop

For "putting them on the desktop" have you considered using Geektool?
