I was considering purchasing OmniGraffle on the recommendation of a colleague but it seems the last update is from June 2010. Is this application still being actively developed and supported or has it reached some type of end of life?

OG 6 is in development, but most of the OG team's efforts in the last year have been on the OG iPad app. Every one of the relatively small collection of bugs I've reported was fixed, I believe. There's a lot to be said for a stable, mature tool!
Omni uses it for their user interface design work, so I don't think there is any real danger of it going away. While the slow pace of development might seem a bit worrisome, it also means you won't have to spring for a major upgrade a few months down the road!
