Visio problem Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
I just purchased Omnigraffle 5.0 Pro as I too am one who uses mac at home, but forced into pc at work. I am trying to import multiple visio drawings - (actually .dwg files converted to visio) and am getting this error message:

"This file contains OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) data, a Windows-specific container format whose data specifications are not public."

I am almost illiterate in these types of programs, so I am not sure what this means. Omnigraffle sounded like a great program to use for a beginner as the company I work for uses ACAD and I certainly don't want to learn that for what I am doing ! Any insight would be appreciated.

OLE is a technology available only on Windows, where content from other programs such as Word or Excel, etc. can be embedded in other applications such as Visio and then in turn be edited as such. OLE content relies on those other applications being present in order to display and be edited.

There is no provision for handling OLE content on Mac OS X, hence the warning.
