Yahoo URL doesn't redirect in OmniWeb Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
Entering the following URL into OmniWeb 5.5.4 yields a "Sorry, Bad Request" page at Yahoo:
http://www.yahoogroups.com/group/cart32
Giving the same URL to Safari 2.0.4 or Firefox 2.0.0.2 winds up displaying this page:
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/cart32/
Having OmniWeb spoof as Safari 2.0.4 doesn't help with the redirect.

The destination page displays fine in OmniWeb if you go straight there.

It not clear whether OmniWeb is dropping the redirect ball -or- Yahoo doesn't like OmniWeb.

Works fine here.

Omniweb took me right to the group page where I could join if I wanted to.

Until someone else sees the problem, I'll have to chalk this one up to something awry on my Mac. I do have lots of 3rd party components enhancing my OS X experience (e.g., 3 rows of Other prefPanes in System Preferences).

I seem to recall Yahoo being particularly sensitive to one of the HTTP request's headers, possibly the content of Accept-Languages. You might pull up the Error Log (in the Window menu), turning on "Show HTTP requests", and sending our Support Ninjas the results from trying to go to that page. We can then compare your (failing) requests with the (successful) requests we're sending and try to figure out what's confusing yahoo.

(In the off chance that it really is the Accept-Languages header, I suppose you could just try experimenting with the Languages section of your OmniWeb Preferences. But since that might be a dead end, you might just want to wait and see what our support ninjas figure out.)

Hope this helps!

I cleared the Error Log and clicked the link in my original report. Here's the log that I just emailed to the fearless Omni Ninjas:
