Go looking for something that isn't HTML, like http://www.omnigroup.com/resources/global.css, only mistype the URL as eg http://www.omnigroup.com/resources/gloobal.css. A '404 not found' page will turn up in the window, and the tab in the tab drawer will be suitably captioned '404 not found'. Edit the URL so that the something is found. It'll be displayed in the window and the window's title will change but the tab will still be captioned '404 not found'.
I speculate that this is something to do with parsing TITLE tags, which 404 pages often have and crashcading stylesh?ts don't. And hurrah for which OmniWeb engineer made it possible for me to do view-source on 404 pages, which hasn't been available since about OW3.0rc2!
