I'm thinking it would be a default date that is somewhat current.

I'm not setting up future tasks to be completed in 2001. You know? :)

I like to see things like out on the calendar instead of in the vertical listing on the task side of the screen. The iCal integration works nicely, but I'd rather it always defaulted to either the current or following month. Something like that.
