Multiple time constraints? Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
I'd like to set up a task that doesn't have a duration or an effort, but instead is bounded at the beginning and at the end by dependencies on other tasks.

As an example, let's say I have a QA Testing task - it should start a little while after the start of Software Construction, and it should continue for as long as Software Construction (which is a group task) goes on.

Is this possible? Is so, how?

Thanks in advance,
Scott

I'm afraid not. Not directly, or in a way where you could assign resources to the QA Testing task.

One thing that you could do would be to make a QA Testing group with 2 milestones inside: Begin QA Testing (which would have a start-to-start dependency with some lag time on Software Construction), and End QA Testing (which would have a finish-to-start dependency on Software Construction). Then collapse the QA Testing group and it will have the correct start and end dates and duration.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately the resource costs don't seem to be added if you do that (it lets you assign resources to a group but doesn't add their cost, presumably because the group itself has no real effort).
