How do you abandon an action? Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
I have an action, that I am no longer going to do.

I do not want to delete it (I want it there for reference)
I do not want to mark it completed (implying that I did it)

It is currently assigned a project, and I do not want to move it from its current reference point.

Nothing built it. I've complained about this myself. Particulary onery with single actions.

You may be forced to "complete" it, with a prefix stating something appropriate (e.g. "dropped: ").

For single actions, and following the suggestions of others in the forum, I created two new single action buckets, one called "On Hold Single Actions" the other "Dropped Single Actions", each set appropriately to appear in their respective areas. I then manually move items into those buckets as necessary.

I had exactly this dilemma today and "resolved" it by marking it complete. It didn't feel right though.

Send feedback and make the request official.

Could you create an "abandoned" context, put that context on hold (so you don't generally see it), then complete the action.

You could then view uncompleted actions as those you still need to act on, and completed as being either completed or abandoned.
