Access data from new iPad with different ID Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
I have OmniFocus on my MacBook Pro and my iPhone. They are pointing and syncing my data perfectly. I purchased a new iPad but am not using my usual ID. I want to get OmniFocus on my iPad, will it be able to sync to my data on my MacBook Pro and iPhone eventhough I'm not using my usual ID?

Thanks,
John

I'm not certain which ID you're referring to here — do you mean the Apple ID that you use to purchase the apps? That's irrelevant for syncing. The easiest way to get the iPad set up is to take it with you to the Mac, then launch OmniFocus on the Mac, open the Preferences (command-,), click on the Sync tab, and open the section at the bottom. You can either Share Settings over the local wireless network, or use Send Settings to send an email message which you read on the iPad and tap the enclosed link. At that point, you enter the login credentials for whatever sync method you are using, and you're off to the races.

John, you'll be happy to know that all three editions of OmniFocus will sync with each other just fine.

Just launch OmniFocus on your Mac, then select "Preferences" from the OmniFocus menu. Open the Sync tab, then press the "Send Settings" button. (You may need to click a triangle in the lower-left to reveal that button.)

Send the email that button creates to an address you receive on your iPad, then open the message in the built-in Mail app on that device.

Once you have OmniFocus for iPad installed, tap the "omnifocus:///" link in the body of the email. It'll configure that edition of the app to sync with the other two. Once you enter your password, you'll be all set.

Hope this helps!

(As an aside, please don't post duplicated content in multiple threads; it clutters up the forums and makes them less useful for other visitors.)

Brian,
Your instructions got it synced to my iPad. Thank you for your help.

John
