OmniFocus, OmniPlan, and taking over the world Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
Hi everyone,

I just want to start by saying that I think you guys are great. Very good software, very useful and very well thought out. Since this post is not exactly relevant, I'll try to keep it as short as possible. I signed up to test OmniFocus and only afterwards realised that GTD was in my pile of unread books (talk about getting things done...) and am now play around and reading at the same time. Somewhere in the the middle of it, a thought struck me. There's an application that I've spent the last few years looking for and never found, and while such a solution might not be within your current plans and strategies, I thought I'd at least mention it.

I run a medium-sized (at least for the Caribbean) production company and have purchased or tested over the last few years iBiz, Studiometry, etc. and found all of them to be lacking in one way or another for project tracking, equipment and facilities management, scheduling and just the day-to-day tasks of pre-production. While I have only ever barely played around with OmniPlan, I "Plan" to take a good look at it this evening. It seems that between these two applications (and I know this is a stated intention) that there is the makings of what I've been looking for. Admittedly there are some key features (such as multi-user, or at least shared projects/to-dos/etc.) that would be needed, but I'd like to think that these might already be in your roadmaps for either if not both of these applications. However, these applications have some of the core underpinnings that are in my opinion missing, and between them could, with a few add-ons and functions rather than huge changes, fill in the missing gaps.

While it's been a few years since I did any programming (C++), I do have some fairly good understanding of what would be required and, as stated above, I don't think it would be a great leap. If this idea is at all of interest, I'd love to expand on it further.

Thanks & take care,
Chris
