On the iPad, how do you mark something complete, but make it completed in the past? If I put an action item on my list, completed it yesterday, but don't mark it complete until today. I frequently use the completed items/dates as a work log and reference and need the right date.

It is easy to change the completion date on the desktop. Just can't figure out how on the iPad.

There isn't a direct way to do it on the iPad. If you're daring, you could quit OmniFocus, set the iPad's date/time back, relaunch OF, mark the item complete, quit OF, reset the iPad's date/time, but I make no promises that there isn't some code that assumes time always goes forward. Maybe the best thing to do at the moment is to simply add an action to your inbox reminding you to fix the completed date/time on those actions the next time you are on your Mac...

Many of my action items are fairly routine, so I just check them off and enjoy the endorphin rush!

For my more complex items or items that are part of projects that need to be more carefully documented, I simply enter notes concerning my progress, which of course eventually includes a completed entry. If you are consistent in using a standard format, (• 2010-08-07-2200: Completed. (for example)), and once OmniFocus is updated to allow for searching of notes, it would be a simple matter to search for your completed entries and quickly compare them to their completed dates on the desktop.

I know everyone has different needs, but I have found that as long as I take good notes when I need to, I have a good log of everything that I have accomplished, or not accomplished as the case may be, (• 2010-08-07-2200: Still playing phone tag!).

It is pretty exciting to be part of an initial release of an app that is sure to grow by leaps and bounds with each update. Eventually all of our work arounds will be moot!
