Have been using Safari Webkit... and I am enormously impressed with its speed in terms of building a page. Also, when clicking back to a previous page - it appears instantly. There is now a marked difference between OW and the latest Safari Webkit - enough that Safari Webkit has become my primary browser.

It seems relatively easy to incorporate that new code into OW. Why isn't it being done? I'd be back in a flash.

We've asked WebKit developers whether it would be appropriate to integrate now, but that branch of WebKit is not yet stable—which means that we would introduce lots of new crashes and rendering issues to OmniWeb if we were to integrate it now.

We plan to ship 5.7 soon, so it doesn't make sense to switch to a new, unstable version of WebKit and potentially delay 5.7 for months and months while Apple works out the kinks in WebKit. (We saw this happen when we prematurely integrated the latest, unstable version of WebKit into OmniWeb 5.6.) But we do plan to integrate the new WebKit into our sneaky peek builds after we release 5.7.

Thanks Ken, I appreciate your prompt reply. I'll watch the sneaky peek builds after you release 5.7

For what it's worth... I've had no bugs, crashes, or other aberrations with the current Webkit (Safari).

Look forward to the sneaky peeks...

P.K.
