Sync Server Down?? Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
I was getting a spate of SSL errors syncing one of my iPads this morning. Didn't seem to have an issue syncing on my iMac or the other iPad, so I restarted the failing iPad and it seemed to get better. I also was not able to connect to the Omni sync server from OmniOutliner on the iPad that was having trouble.

A bit unnerving however to suddenly have a bunch of failures with a server that has been so reliable in the past, and is an essential part of my setup!
 
The beta sync stopped working on my iPad today (works fine on the Macs).

I tried:

* Turning off and on my iPad - no help
* Resetting the local OF data - no help
* Turning off sync, then re-setting up with OF cloud sync - worked
 
Thanks chuckl, turning sync off, then back on, did the trick!
 
We've been having occasional slowdowns recently (the last two weeks, approximately), especially in the mornings Pacific time when we usually get a surge in traffic. Occasionally the system will get bogged down enough that syncs start to fail. We're working on this— we have plenty of room to scale, but we're still learning where some of the bottlenecks are. I hope you'll bear with us as we work out this latest kink.

ShawnLevasseur and whpalmer, the SSL errors you've seen are probably caused by this problem, but can you describe them in more detail just in case?
 
Didn't capture a screenshot, but as I recall, it just said that the sync failed because an SSL connection could not be made, did I want to try again and retry/cancel buttons. When I tried connecting from OOi, once it got to the connecting screen, nothing happened for about 30 seconds (normally I've got the list of files within 5 seconds), so I concluded that it wasn't going to work and rebooted the iPad. I haven't had any errors since.
 
OK, that makes sense. It was probably just the delay while you rebooted the iPad.
