Request: Pls add the keyboard additions for iThoughtsHD to OF for iPad Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
The latest update of iThoughts HD (simply the best mind mapping app in my opinion) incorporates some additional buttons at the top of the standard iPad Keyboard which make editing an entry MUCH simpler.

The interface is simple and clean

On the Left Hand side there are buttons for:
- moving to the start of a word - press multiple times to move one word at a time.
- moving to the end of a word - again press multiple times to move along a sentance.

on the Right Hand side are little arrows for doing the same thing one character at a time.

Compared to the hassle of selecting and moving the cursor in the traditional way on an iPad (anyone else got fat fingers?) this is a huge productivity improvement. Any chance that Omni could licence and/or re-produce this keyboard addition in a near future update?

BTW - iThoughtsHD exports in outliner format (via a script) as a project into OF for the Mac. This approach can be very useful in 'first cut' project planning. Simply create the mind map on the iPad and then import it into OF for fine tuning and GTD.

Hello!
How do you export from iThoughts to OmniFocus?

Here's the process.
  1. In iThoughtsHD load up the map you want to send as a project.
  2. press the 'Actions Button' and select 'Send Email' and then chose .opml as the format. Compose the email and send it to an account you can access on your MAC
  3. Download the application that you can find on the OmniForums http://forums.omnigroup.com/showthread.php?t=10432. Instructions on the install (you may need an extra file) are in the thread. Many thanks to RobTrew for creating and sharing the droplet app.
  4. Open your email on the MAC and save the .opml attachment somewhere where you can find it.
  5. Make sure that you have Omnifocus Open (i'm not sure if this is necessary, but it works with OF open so that is the way I do it)
  6. Drag the .OPML file which contains your project planning onto the OPML2OF.app application.
  7. Be patient while the OPML2OF.app application processes the file and creates the project(s) in OmniFocus.
  8. Once it has finished the app displays a dialog to say what it has done and you can find the project(s) imported in a special folder in the Projects List called 'Imported from OPML on {the date that you did the import}
  9. simply move the project(s) to the right place in OF and delete the folder.

That's it.

Thanks!
Will try it out :)

Feature request for per-word text navigation controls filed, philrob. Thanks!

In ithoughtsHD select a task, then go to (i) then press on menu 'link' select "choose email" and put there your special email 'omnifocus mail drop' address.
And voilą.
For more info to get the Beta mail drop adrdress for OmniFocus here's the link:
