The latest build caps at five, and when I have more than 5 available, it just says something like "multiple tasks available." (I didn't pay close attention to the wording) Now I don't have any idea which items just became available, and they are a mystery to me. Is there any way to change this preference? I looked around both OF prefs and Growl prefs but didn't see an answer.

First, quit OmniFocus.
In the Terminal application, enter defaults write com.omnigroup.omnifocus GrowlNotificationLimit <some number> <return key> Restart OmniFocus and you should get individual growl notifications whenever you have the limit you specified or fewer.
