I could live with that as well. But automatic completion with no option to turn it off would not suit my work flow either, at least for projects.

I'm a little more flexible with the autocompletion idea on action groups though. Right now, I'm not completely satisfied with having to go into Planning mode whenever I complete everything in an action group. I'm not sure what the answer is to that dilemma (maybe autocompletion) but there are other threads for that topic. My only suggestion would be to have two separate preferences for autocompletion, one for projects and one for action groups.

At first, I thought this way. But after more thought, I realized that a parent/child group is nothing more than a project itself (a sub-project). In OF, when all the actions in a project are checked, the project itself is not marked as complete. There is a very good reason why it needs to be manually marked complete: it is often appropriate only to plan the NEXT action, not the complete sequence of actions in the entire project. If the project were automatically marked completed when you check the final next action, it would fall off your radar. You'd lose track of it among the myriad completed projects that populate your database, which you don't really need to review anymore. Instead, OF marks the project "stalled", so it can be revisited in the next review session.

I would like it if I didn't need to have a whole separate "single action list." This ads a level of complexity that I don't need. I would prefer just to have single actions differentiated from projects by an icon, and just sit with them in the library.

This thread started last May explains where the idea of single-action lists came from, and why many people prefer them to the solution you propose. (Please note that terms and UI have changed since then, sometimes quite a lot.) A pragmatic objection is that many of us would soon have over a hundred single actions crowding the sidebar in planning mode. Another, more philosophical objection is that single actions should not appear in planning mode at all, since you don't plan them (other than putting them on a context list in the first place).

The more I use OmniFocus the more I wish it had some aspects of OmniOutliner (or vise-versa) included to help manage projects and keep detailed info pertaining to my various tasks. Yeah, I have read the posts by those that want to keep the app trim and more focused, but some future combination of the two sure would be powerful. A project planner, outliner, and task manager all wrapped up in one from Omnigroup would make for a killer app. I have used OmniOutliner and/or Notebook for project management for sometime, if only my OmniFocus tasks could somehow be incorporated right into the various levels of my OmniOutliner....that would rock!

I agree, a very well thought out printing package would be nice for those of us that like to carry hard copies, or need to provide task outlines for various projects to our employers.

A little different set-up for the review system, something a little more user friendly (visually that is) that has more info displayed such as when the last review was done, when the current or next review is scheduled. More control on a solid review date that doesn't get moved based on when you do the review, but instead stays every Sunday, etc.

I would love to see:

1) Omniplan integration. Putting a shopping list in omniplan is excessive and managing a project in omnifocus is not possible.
2) The ability to visually display start and stop times like omniplan does (maybe just integration with omniplan would be sufficient). This could be fixed by syncing actions as "events" and not "to dos" in ical. A list is great but some people need to visualise it and may not be prepared to pay for omniplan.
3) Better ical support, namely the ability to enter events in. It does not make sense for everything to be a "To Do".

These are all big things for me and I think they need to be included in a 1.5 release, along with iphone support.

I agree. I find myself using the notes field for brainstorming, and wish I had the functionality of OmniOutliner right there. But maybe I should just be creating an OmniOutliner document and attaching it to the notes field.... :-)

That's exactly what I do when styled text is insufficient. I've been quite happy with the results, although it'd be nice if OmniOutliner had a Quick Look plug-in.

To move forward some of my non-urgent but interesting projects, I would like to have relative due dates in each task, so new task will appear after a number of days from the date the previous task was completed. With this approach, my due day list would not appear full of uncompleted items that I have to reschedule, and these projects will flow with my more important or urgent projects.
Recently, I have decided to clear due dates for the tasks of these projects and check the due date of the first task in every revision, adding new due dates as needed. But I would like to write in the due date field something like +5d to indicate that the due date is 5 days after the completion of the previous task.
