I would really like to use this for taking notes in the upcoming semester, but I have one question before I take the jump with my wallet; can I both free-draw and type on a single canvas? Thanks for the answer in advanced ^_^

Tes.
However I ain't sūre whether u'll be able to jot down an entier course. When U use it for taking notes in meetings, this ain.t for taking the minutes but the outline. There are other apps (Mental Note) better for your purpose (allowing text & graphics, too)

Sounds like you would be better off with something like Sundry Notes or Whitepaper
