Toggle for blocking popups Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
I do like how OW deals with popups by showing an icon at the bottom of the window. But it would be nice to have a more universal method of control to toggle block popups on/off (as in Safari). For e-commerce sites, this would make the surfing experience much faster by getting rid of the need to open up each popup manually.

This speaks to a larger issue in OmniWeb I'd like to see addressed; the ability to reload a page, completely devoid of all site rules specified. That way, if something is going wonky on a site because of your default rules, you can temporarily view the page unfiltered. PithHelmet for Safari handles this by making cmd+shift+r reload the page unfiltered. I think it would be very handy to have this feature in OW, too.

I join your demand.

You could open site preferences, and turn off ad blocking there, Then just reload.

Of course. But that is several steps - involving disabling and reenabling the items - when one key combination would vastly more expedient. It's what I'm doing now, and it's really a bit of a pain.

Why would you have to do it so much? Just curious. Either you want to block stuff on web sites, or you don't. Once in a blue moon I need to see a site with blocks disabled, even with Safari/Pith Helmet. If you need to do it more often, perhaps your blocking rules are too broad?

I use the CSS ruleset from floppymoose.com - this is the "standard" of CSS block sheets. I then create copies of the base sheet, and add site-specific changes to that. Generally speaking, I *don't* need to remove my universally-specified stylesheet; but the few times a month that I do, it would be nice to just hit cmd+shift+r.
