A fix for OmniFocus running slowly Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
OmniFocus was running extremely sluggishly for me—it took around ½ second to register each keypress, making the application nearly unusable. Searching these forums revealed nothing, making me think this hasn't been a widespread problem. Nonetheless I suppose it's worth posting for future troubleshooters.

My problem was a corrupted preference file, not a bloated database. Deleting this file (~/Library/Preferences/com.omnigroup.OmniFocus.plist) resolved the problem, and OmniFocus is snappy as ever.

I kind of agree with the above post. When ever I tried to quit Omnifocus, the application took atleast 10 seconds to quit. After deleting the above file, the application as above said is now pretty snappy. Thanks for the fix dbyler.

Another tip for future troubleshooters -- instead of deleting your preferences files, rename them (or move them elsewhere). That way, if the problem turns out to be a bad preferences file, you've got the suspect file to send in to the support folks and they at least have a chance to investigate. As the old saying goes, the first rule of intelligent tinkering is to save all the parts!

Good point, whpalmer4, and one I should have mentioned. (Now that you mention it, I may send my archived one to the Omni forensics team for analysis.)
