This is a simple thing: I created a sort of outline in OmniOutliner, a list of 20 items. Then I realized I don't have much control over the checkboxes, so I want to copy and paste the list of items into OmniFocus.

Does anyone know how to do this?

When I try it, it either doesn't paste at all, or each item turns into a project.

Instead of Copy/Cut & Paste, try the Import command instead. Take the time to review the OF Help entry on "Importing data from other applications" as it provides a few more details on making this work cleanly. Give it a try, and let us know how it goes.
