OmniFocus iPhone, Push Notification & MobileMe Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
Ok.. so we know that OG is building the OmniFocus iPhone and we know it will sync via some sort of Webdav.

The question, is are they thinking about or considering the Push Notification framework that Apple just announced?

That way, as I added something to OmniFocus on my Mac, it could push out a notification to OmniFocus iPhone with little muss of fuss just like Apple is doing with Calendar/Contacts/Email in the new MobileMe.

It could be a very very cool way of doing it.

Or, my OF actions could get pushed to MobileMe so I could view them, gasp, at work, gasp, on my PC.

Still not sure if it would be cool for me to store work action items on an offsite web server.

That is a beautiful thing. And location awareness! Suddenly July and beyond seem so very far away.

One of the coolest comments I heard about the iphone was ". . . it is like you are holding the future in your hands." Well, that link holds such amazing promise. I am so pumped. Where can I buy OmniGroup stock?

The app looks fantastic, and location awareness sounds really great (i.e. only show me work stuff when I am at work!) An amazing amount of potential...

I am worried about the syncing, however. The iCal syncing ToDo aspect never worked properly for me, and I realize this is due to the lame iSync engine. It is really unclear to me how the new version is going to sync with the a desktop machine via .Mac. or a web-dav server. I have found syncing of data like this to be one of the most complicated and troubling aspects of using a mac (not that its any different on the PC). The only solution appears to be server-side (i.e. IMAP for email) storage - no one seems to have been able to get syncing to work properly for databases on local machines (i.e. Chronos Notes, etc).

I would absolutely be thrilled if there was a solution to this problem, and I could update my Omnifocus data on either of my macs or my iphone and have the data synchronize properly on all 3.

I would actually pay a lot of money for this ability, come to think of it. If there was some way it could be incorporated into the new MobileMe system, that would be great too.

I just don't know of a single company that has solved this problem yet. I hope Omni has and will reveal to us how they have done it soon!!!

I will be surprised if Apple thinks that it really fixed .mac this time & did not make some kind of SDK for mobileme-hosted applications.

OMG, I cannot wait for Omnifocus on the iPhone!! Im tired of printing out lists and not being able to sort when Im out.

Wow. I want an iPod touch so badly now (can't use the phone at my workplace). Have to find money in the budget.

This is great news. Has anyone heard any rumors about how much this is going to run price wise?
