There are some tasks which, when completed, I need to repeat in the future, not necessarily the next day, and not necessarily every time. Is there any quick way of achieving this?

Pretty basic, and may not be exactly what you're after, but how about set the action with a 'repeat every' 'twenty years', which when completed, will set the next (incomplete) one far enough out to stay out of your face when using the 'available' filter? For the 'not necessarily every time' part thing, that's by definition ad hoc, so just before you mark an action as complete that you *don't* want to repeat, just undo the repeat setting.

Thanks omnibob, that's good enough.
