New To OF- Newby Quesiton about email Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
I'm new to OmniFocus and have a trial of OF for use with the iPhone app (which I love).
This may be a simple question but...
I've look everywhere. Am I missing something? Is there a simple way for me to take a task and email/delegate it to someone else?
For example, if I created a task to email someone can I send it to my assistant from within OmniFocus?

Thanks-

Not built in as such (I hope one day there will be collaborative features in OF), but I do it by syncing to iCal - I have a context called "delegate to Mandy", and sync that with an iCal calendar called "Mandy". Mandy then syncs her iCal with mine using MobileMe, and so gets the task showing up in iCal. If she used OF, she could then sync her copy to iCal too, to pick up the tasks.

The downside is that she has to sync with my entire iCal, so that our two copies of iCal are identical, because you can't sync just one calendar through MobileMe. We want that anyway, but you may not.

BTW, if you drag a task to mail, you get a link in the mail that takes you to the task in OF, but of course it only works on your own machine, so I'm wondering what the point of that was?

Thanks for the quick reply.

I find it a little strange that an application as powerful as OF doesn't include what strikes me as a pretty basic and important feature.

I think they suffer from thier own success - it's so powerful that it feels like a very mature application that should have all these features, but in reality it's still only a version one, and is not long out of beta really.

I personally think there are lots of things that would have been much better thought out if given more time, but find it difficult to criticise really, given the amazing rate of development.
