OmniPresence uses Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
I have set up OmniPresence to sync with a test folder on one of my work servers. I see that it creates its own repository system at the root of that structure. I had been expecting that it would sync what was there in the traditional WebDav way (what you see on the server is what you see on the client), but that is not so and I understand why.

Would it be appropriate for people to use OmniPresence as a general document sharing tool (all would be using Macs)? I can see of course why it is a great tool for OmniGroup products, but was it planned to also be able to do generic syncing for a group of people (I have set things up with group access)?

This is certainly a situation we had in mind for OmniPresence. However, I would recommend doing some testing first. Would these files be frequently accessed and/or modified? The big issue with multiple users is potential for creating conflicts especially if the app autosaves and clicking around/scrolling/etc in a file causes changes to the file. We'd like to hear how it goes if you do try this.
