Crash on login forms Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
Recently I've started to see OmniWeb crash whenever I load a page with a login form. To be fair, it doesn't happen on every login form -- https://panel.dreamhost.com/ causes a crash, but http://forums.omnigroups.com/ does not -- and Safari crashes on most but not all of the same pages. Neither Firefox nor Camino crashes on the same pages. I've deleted the logins for the crashing pages from my Keychain and have even reset my Keychain, but the crashes still come. In fact, I get a crash when I got to Citibank's login page(https://web.da-us.citibank.com/cgi-b...portal/l/l.do), which I've never logged into.

The crash reports for OmniWeb tend to look like this:
Code:
Thread 12 Crashed:
eip: 0xffff0f20 ebp: 0xb06d0648 esp: 0xb06d0640
eax: 0xffff0700 ebx: 0x91024156 ecx: 0x00000032
edx: 0xfffee440 edi: 0xb06d06d0 esi: 0x18311bf2
 ss: 0x0000001f cs: 0x00000017 ds: 0x0000001f
 es: 0x0000001f fs: 0x00000000 gs: 0x00000037 eflags: 0x00010282
And those for Safari look like this:
Code:
Thread 4 Crashed:
0 <<00000000>> 0xffff0f2c __memcpy + 1932 (cpu_capabilities.h:228)
In either case, there's almost never more information for that thread. I recently upgraded to a new MacBook Pro (2.33 GHz), but I don't remember exactly whether the crashes started immediately after the upgrade. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Thanks in advance.

/jgt

I have no problem loading all the links you posted on a Pro Mac (OW 5.5.1), The Safari error log refers to a memcpy process. This might be a hardware issue. (I would have said it "is" a hardware issue if I actually knew what I was talking about.)

After resetting my keychain, https://panel.dreamhost.com/ no longer crashes Safari, but it still crashes OW 5.5.1. I have been submitting crash reports for each crash at that URL and any other that causes a crash.

I experience a crash when trying to visit http://flickr.com/signin with a new user on my machine, so I guess it's not user-specific (i.e. not my keychain). I guess I have to reinstall Mac OS X. I was really hoping it wouldn't come to that. :-(

A reinstall seemed to fix it. Sorry for bothering everyone.
