formatting of text disappears [A: OPML spec doesn't include text formatting.] Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
Hi there,

My outlines no longer retain their formatting. For example, I might format different parts of my outlines with italics, bold, or text in different colours. I save religiously. However, when I close the document and then reopen it again, all the formatting is gone.

Is there a setting somewhere that should be reset? This is extremely annoying. Any assistance much appreciated.

Many thanks!

What is the file format you are using to save them?

File format is OPML. Formatting exports to rich text. But I thought the formatting could be preserved within the OPML format, or is this not the case?

The OPML specification covers the structure of an outline, but doesn't have any way to preserve text formatting. It's essentially plain text. If you save to Outliner's native format, HTML, or RTF, you'll be able to preserve the text formatting. Hope that helps!

Oh, great - I hadn't actually realised that I wasn't saving in the proprietary format. Now it's all good :)

Thanks!
